9 May 1935 by Topical Press PhotoUnderground guard on platform number 3 at Earl’s Court station, demonstrating the train starting device. He is holding the metal staff of his flag so that it makes contact with the overhead wires; this rings a bell on the platform, telling the motorman to restart the train. The train in the platform is bound for Ealing on the District line, and is formed of 1927 K-stock; car no 8222 stands in the foreground. Note the non-stopping board on the side of the car.
